The Department of Defense greatly values the support our Service members and families receive from members of the general public. While we are unable to directly receive donations such as care packages, letters of support, and financial assistance, we appreciate that there are many national, regional, and local nonprofit organizations who do this important work.

Although we do not recommend or endorse any specific nonprofit military support organizations, there are reputable charity evaluation services you may wish to consult when searching for nonprofit organizations that align with your specific desire to support military members and families.

We recognize that there are also fraudulent and unethical organizations that prey on the generosity and patriotism of those who want to contribute to the well-being of our military community. The Federal Trade Commission publishes tools and information to help consumers avoid being victimized when donating to military and first-responder charitable organizations.
