General Officer Announcements

July 16, 2015

Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced today that the president has made the following nominations:

Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Robert B. Neller for appointment to the rank of general and for assignment as the 37th commandant of the Marine Corps. Neller is currently serving as the commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command; commanding general, Fleet Marine Force Atlantic; and commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Europe, Norfolk, Virginia.

Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Lawrence D. Nicholson for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as commanding general, III Marine Expeditionary Force; and commander, Marine Forces Japan. Nicholson is currently serving as the commanding general, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California.
