General Officer Announcement

 Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced today that the president has made the following nomination:

Air Force Maj. Gen. Robert S. Williams for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as commander, Continental U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command Region; and commander, First Air Force (Air Forces Northern), Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida.  Williams is currently serving as chief, Office of Military Cooperation; and senior defense official and defense attaché-Kuwait, U.S. Central Command, U.S. Embassy, Kuwait.
