General Officer Announcement

March 11, 2016

Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced today that the president has made the following nomination:

Army Gen. Curtis M. Scaparrotti for appointment to the rank of general and for assignment as supreme allied commander, Europe.  NATO has also agreed to appoint Scaparrotti as supreme allied commander, Europe.  Scaparrotti is currently serving as commander, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/U.S. Forces Korea. In addition to the NATO position, Scaparrotti will be assigned as commander, U.S. European Command.
