Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced today that the president has made the following nominations:
Air Force Lt. Gen. Joseph L. Lengyel for appointment to the rank of general and for assignment as chief, National Guard Bureau, Pentagon, Washington, District of Columbia. Lengyel is currently serving as the vice chief, National Guard Bureau, Pentagon, Washington, District of Columbia.
Air Force Lt. Gen. Bradley A. Heithold for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as principal deputy director of cost assessment and program evaluation, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Pentagon, Washington, District of Columbia. Heithold is currently serving as commander, Air Force Special Operations Command, Hurlburt Field, Florida.
Air Force Maj. Gen. Maryanne Miller for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as chief of Air Force Reserve, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, District of Columbia; and commander, Air Force Reserve Command, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. Miller is currently serving as deputy to the Chief of Air Force Reserve, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, District of Columbia.
Air Force Maj. Gen. Leon S. Rice for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as director, Air National Guard, National Guard Bureau, Pentagon, Washington, District of Columbia. Rice is currently serving as the adjutant general, Massachusetts National Guard, Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts.
Air Force Col. Kenneth P. Ekman for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Ekman is currently serving as the vice director of operations, Headquarters North American Aerospace Defense Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.
