Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced today that the president has made the following nominations:
Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Glenn M. Walters for appointment to the rank of general, and for assignment as assistant commandant of the Marine Corps. Walters is currently serving as the deputy commandant for programs and resources, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps, Washington, District of Columbia.
Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Lewis A. Craparotta for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and for assignment as commanding general, I Marine Expeditionary Force. Craparotta is currently serving as commanding general, Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command; and commanding general, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California.
Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Joseph L. Osterman for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and for assignment as deputy commander, U.S. Special Operations Command. Osterman is currently serving as commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Gary L. Thomas for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and for assignment as deputy commandant for programs and resources. Thomas is currently serving as commanding general, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing, Cherry Point, North Carolina.
