Secretary of Defense Ash Carter announced today that the president has made the following nominations:
Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Robert S. Walsh for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as deputy commandant for combat development and integration; commanding general, Marine Corps Combat Development Command; and commander, U.S. Marine Forces Strategic Command. Walsh is currently serving as the director of expeditionary warfare, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, District of Columbia.
Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Mark A. Brilakis for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as deputy commandant for manpower and reserve affairs. Brilakis is currently serving as the commanding general, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, Quantico, Virginia.
